Duckhead Decoys

Each Duckhead decoy is produced with passion. Jimmy Cerreta’s love of carving decoys began more than 35 years ago when he produced decoys for his own use while duck hunting. Immediately, his hunting buddies recognized the effectiveness – and inherent beauty – of the carvings and asked Jimmy to carve decoys for their use as well.

Jimmy then parlayed his passion for carving into a small business endeavor that has spanned the course of the past several decades. His creations have since evolved as Jimmy refined his craft, meticulously researching his subject and consulting with elder masters of the American Folk Art of handcrafted duck decoys.

Jimmy’s hard work over the years has not gone unnoticed. His beautiful carvings have received numerous blue ribbons, awards and honors in both regional and national competitions.

Jimmy’s decoy carvings are made from the finest select sugar pine lumber, hand-carved in the traditional hunting style with keel and lead weights. Realistic color is achieved through repeated hand brushing using artist-quality paints. Blending of paints and highlighting of specific characteristic markings make for beautiful duck decoys that can be enjoyed for display or in the embrace of the marsh.
